My Work with Children
I am engaging, kind, and supportive in working with children. I work with children presenting with ADHD, grief, loss, medical trauma, oppositional behavior, depression, anxiety, school avoidance, and developmental issues. I connect naturally with children and am skilled in child psychotherapy, using elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I engage with children using toys, games, books and conversation and am effective at meeting a child at their developmental level.
I also excel in helping parents to engage with their children and to improve dynamics within the family unit. I believe in an integrated approach working with the individual and family. I work closely with the pediatrician and any psychologists and school professionals, as well as with the school system to ensure that students have the best possible chance at a good education.
I often meet with parents with and without the child present, helping parents to set appropriate boundaries and facilitate their children in reaching their potential. In this pursuit, I utilize components of family therapy, parent management training and mentalization-based therapy to help children increase their success socially, at school, and at home.
