Psychotherapy or “Talk Therapy”

As a psychotherapist, I start with a foundation of a strong therapeutic alliance and helping patients uncover a better understanding of themselves. I am committed to helping patients feel better and attain personal goals. I will help you to develop increased stability of your mood, emotions, relationships, school, career, and life. I am highly trained as a psychotherapist and I draw from multiple psychotherapeutic modalities. Whether you desire short-term counseling or ongoing psychotherapy, I will work with you to make treatment choices that fit your lifestyle, highlight your personal strengths, and respect your goals. I typically advise weekly sessions to enable the best long-term results.

Psychopharmacology Or Medication

I am a careful and thoughtful psychopharmacologist and I like to develop the appropriate medication regimen in a collaborative, supportive and therapeutic manner. My general treatment principle regarding psychotropic medications is to use the lowest effective dose of medication that successfully alleviates your symptoms. When paired with ongoing and constructive therapy, medication can be a highly effective component of managing conditions such as depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. During your initial visit, we will review your full psychiatric and family history as well as your life trajectory and the factors that led to the current issues being experienced. Obtaining a full medical history allows me to evaluate for medical conditions that may present with psychiatric symptoms. I treat each patient with warmth, curiosity and compassion. The treatment plan will integrate effective and evidence-based treatments with a holistic approach tailored to your lifestyle and particular needs.

Combined Medication Management and Psychotherapy

I integrate treatment with medication and psychotherapy as needed for an individual patient. My dual role as a therapist and psychiatrist allows me to manage medication in conjunction with therapy. If you choose to use medication, I will clearly explain all the details of your medication and answer any and all questions you may have in regards to the role of medication management. While you will never feel pressure to add prescription medication to your treatment, it is helpful that the option is available under my care.

Medication Management and Psychopharmacological Consultation

I work closely with local psychotherapists in the community who provide may refer patients to me when they identify a problem that could benefit from medication. In those cases, I provide an initial consultation and work collaboratively with the therapist and the patient to come up with a plan for medication and other biological modalities of treatment.
